classification: Rollie/Angie relationship
summary: Dingo meets Julia
Rollie Tyler was pretty sure life couldn't get any better. After he and Angie were open about their feelings their relationship had steadily gotten closer and more intimate. He was really starting to get the hang of fatherhood, and the movie they were working on was going smoothly, without an interruption.
*knock knock knock*
"Could you get that Rol?" Angie called from the kitchen area of the shop.
"Sure sweet." Rollie said as he walked to door. He opened the door and what he saw left him a little stunned.
"Well aren't you gonna let your father in?"
"Sure." Rollie said as he stepped out of the way to let Dingo in. 'Bloody great' he said to himself.
Dingo walked into the shop and immediately noticed some of Julia's toys laying around. At that moment Angie walked out of the kitchen area holding Julia in one arm.
"So who was it Rol?" Angie asked before she saw Dingo.
"Hello Angie," Dingo said before Rollie could answer.
"Dingo, what a surprise." Angie said as she suddenly remembered that Dingo didn't know about Julia. She knew that Rollie wouldn't have told him because there was no way to reach him. Rollie walked over to Angie.
"Ang why don't you take Julia upstairs, I think I better do some explaining." He said quietly.
"Okay. I think that's a good idea. If you need me for anything..."
"Thanks sweet." He said then leaned down and gave her a quick kiss.
Dingo watched them silently. He realized that alot must of happened since the last time he visited his son and his young assistant. As Angie walked up the stairs, Rollie walked back over to him.
"There's a few things I need to tell you." Rollie said as he led Dingo over to the couch.
"I should say so." He said trying to stifle a laugh. There was something amusing about all that he had seen so far. He couldn't wait to see how his son would explain it all. Dingo sat down and Rollie sat across from him.
"Dingo............. I have a daughter. Her name is Julia."
"So the little girl is yours and Angie's."
"No, Julia's mine, but not Angie's." Rollie corrected. "See, I dated a woman named Maureen, about two years ago. We went out for awhile, but she broke it off. A couple months ago Julia shows up on my doorstep, Maureen died. It seems the reason for the breakup was Julia. I'm her father so the court gave me custody."
Dingo looked at his son and said quite amused, "Sounds like something that would happen to me."
"Ya, except I'm actually trying to be a father." Rollie replied a little insulted.
"Alright, you're right." He said but waited a second to ask the question he had had since Angie had gone upstairs. "So what's going on between you and Angie?"
"How did I know you weren't going to let that be? We... we sort of. Since I got Julia, Angie's been sort of a mother to her. I mean we share all the responsibility. It was just natural. I liked doing this with her, so did she. We both started to realize we wanted more than a friendship, that we could do this again, in fact we wanted to, but only with each other. We started to realize we've been falling in love for awhile."
"I knew it."
"Nevermind. So can I expect more grandkids soon?"
"Dingo we've only been 'dating' for about a month. Don't get carried away."
"Ah whatever, I'm sure you'll of had another one the next time I drop by. So can I meet this little one before the next one comes along?"
Rollie just groaned, he knew Dingo wouldn't listen to him. "Sure I'll get Angie." He replied about to walk away. "So you never told me why you were in town."
"No reason just in town, thought I might drop by and visit my son."
"Sure, you better not tell me why you're really here, I'd rather not know. I'll go get Angie." Rollie said going up the stairs. He walked into his bedroom to find Angie sitting on his bed, Julia in her arms, one of Julia's books open, and Angie reading aloud. Angie looked up.
"So how things go?"
"Fine, he's anxious to meet his granddaughter." Rollie explained.
Angie handed Julia to Rollie and got up.
"Da da, where go?"
"You're going to meet your grandpa sweetheart." Rollie said to her
"It's Daddy's Daddy." He replied. Julia was still confused. Rollie looked at Angie, "I should warn you Dingo is now convinced that we're going to give him another grandchild within the next time he drops by." He said smiling.
"Oh God Rollie what did you say to him?" Angie said exasperated.
She just looked at him.
"I swear." Rollie said as he turned around and walked out of the room. They walked down the stairs and met Dingo at the bottom. "Dingo, I'd like you to meet your granddaughter, Julia Megan Tyler."
"Hello sweets. Can I hold her Rollie?"
"Sure." Rollie said as he handed over his daughter to his father. Rollie and Angie turned around and walked back to the stairs and sat down. Dingo walked away to the couch and sat down. "Well this hasn't turned out so bad." Rollie said as he put his arm around Angie and his chin on top of her head.
"Ya I guess so. I was just thinking about what Dingo is expecting. I don't want to put it off for too long, I mean we don't want too many years between Julia and her siblings." Angie said cautiously. Rollie moved his head so he and Angie were eye to eye.
"Ang am I hearing what I think I'm hearing?"
"I mean I don't think we should plan on this right now, but I don't want to put this off for too long. I mean knowing Dingo he won't show up for another five years, and I hope within that time we'll have given Julia a little brother or sister. Don't you feel the same way?"
"I do, definitely. I can't wait to start trying, but I do think we should wait awhile. I don't want to rush into this. This isn't just about us, it's about me and you and Julia, and the baby... Look at me I'm talking like it's already here."
"No that's not even possible." She said, "You're right though we should wait awhile."
"And I plan on marrying you before our children are here."
"Rollie, I love you."
"And I love you Angie."
Dingo sat on the couch with Julia on his lap facing him. "So has your Dad ever told you who I am?"
The little girl just shook her head in response.
"Well I'm your grandpa, that means that your Dad is my son. Someday my little sweetheart I'm going to take you back to Australia and show you where your Dad grew up. Would you like that?"
The girl nodded yes excitedly, then stopped, "Where dat?"
"Very far away." He replied. "How about we go see what your Dad and Angie are up to." He said getting up and walking toward the stairs. There he found Angie and Rollie off in their own world, securely wrapped in each other's arms. "If they continue like that I bet you'll have a brother or sister by next year." Dingo whispered to Julia. Dingo cleared his throat so that Rollie and Angie jumped apart and stood up. "Well Rollie, Angie I have to run now, but thank you, it's been interesting. I hope to drop by again, soon." He said as he handed Julia back to Angie. "It always good to see you again son." He said shaking his hand. "And Angie you are lovelier every time I see you."
Dingo turned around and walked to the door. "Rollie you know what I'm expecting next time."
"And you know what I told you."
"Whatever. I guess we'll see." Dingo said as he walked out the door. Rollie turned around and looked at Angie.
"Interesting." She finished.
